Wine Wednesday: It's a great day for a Chardonnay!
While it is a tricky grape to grow, and the way it is grown and the soil it grows in all impact the taste of the wine, there is no denying that Chardonnay is a favorite among fans of the single varietal white.
Many of the local vineyards and wineries in the Okanagan cultivate and produce a Chardonnay as it is almost a formal rite of passage for a wine producing region to produce this wine in order to be seen as a player on the world stage.
Chardonnay is also an important component in many sparkling wines.
A small sample of some of the local options is pictured below, escallating in value from left to right
-
Okanagan Vineyards
-
Inniskillen
-
Gray Monk
-
Meyer
Grab a bottle of each and do a brown bag tasting! See how they compare and the differences in taste within the different wineries!
Cheers!
